APPLETON – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team improved to 6-2 overall on Thursday afternoon with a 9-0 victory over Lawrence University.

The Pointers took a 3-0 advantage after doubles and never looked back, capturing all six singles matches to secure their sixth win of the season.

In singles, Rachel Benn (Stevens Point) needed a third set tiebreak at No. 1 to secure a 7-6 (7-2), 3-6, 1-0 (10-4) victory over Elizabeth Larson while Emily Riordan (Appleton) took her match at No. 3 singles to a third set tiebreak to secure a 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-4) victory.

Kaitlyn King (Plover) also needed an extra effort to win her No. 4 singles match 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) against Elizabeth Beyer.

The Pointers return to action on Sunday, Sept. 20 when they host UW-La Crosse and St. Norbert College at Goerke Park beginning at 10 a.m.
