Thank you to everyone who purchased a brat, hamburger, or hot dog from the UW-Stevens Point Women's Basketball Team on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Wal-Mart parking lot in Plover. This was the first fundraiser the women will organize in an effort to raise money for local families who have been affected by breast cancer.
The charity of choice for the women's basketball team is Project Embrace at St. Michael's hospital. Project Embrace provides pink blankets to people who have breast cancer and receiving treatment at St. Michael's hospital. With all the generous support from the community, we were able to reach our goal for our first fundraiser of the year. Thank you for all the support from people in the community who volunteered their time to help out for a great cause.
In addition to having a brat stand, the women will also stage silent auctions before select home games. This will culminate in the women's participation in their fourth straight Pink Zone game on February, 17, 2010 against the UW-Platteville Pioneers.
