Kalsow Named UW-Green Bay Assistant Basketball Coach
Former Division III Player of the Year was Green Bay's director of operations last year
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Green Bay head men's basketball coach Tod Kowalczyk has officially announced the hiring of Jason Kalsow as assistant coach. Kalsow spent last season as the team's director of basketball operations.

"Jason has done a tremendous job with our program since he started last September," Kowalczyk said. "I'm looking forward to seeing him continue to grow in this role and become an even bigger part of our success in the future."

Well-known in Wisconsin basketball circles, Kalsow was an integral part of the UW-Stevens Point men's basketball program prior to becoming a Phoenix. He was a standout player for the NCAA Division III Pointers, helping the squad to a pair of national championships (2004, 2005). During his four years, UW-Stevens Point amassed a 103-18 record and won three conference championships.

Kalsow was named the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year in 2005 and was also the Most Valuable Player of the Final Four. He earned first-team All-America accolades his senior season after picking up second-team plaudits as a junior. He was a four-time all-league honoree and team captain each of his final three seasons.

Kalsow ranks as the school's all-time scoring and rebounding leader. Following his collegiate career, he played professionally in the Iceland Professional Basketball League, where he participated in the 2005 Euro Cup.

Upon returning to the United States, he spent three years serving on the Pointers' coaching staff, one season as a volunteer coach and two as a graduate assistant. During that time, UWSP accumulated a 66-20 record and reached the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2007 and the second round in 2008.

Kalsow graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a degree in social science in 2006. He earned his master's degree in education-adult based learning in May of 2008.
