STEVENS POINT - UW-Stevens Point senior Cory Towle, a native of Waukesha and a graduate of Waukesha South High School, has been named this week's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Week.
Towle continued his winning ways from last week, this time in a different event. Towle finished first in the 5,000-meter run, beating a field in which seven of the top nine finishers were also Pointers. Towle's time of 14:44.56 was almost a second faster than the second place finisher and was also fast enough to secure Towle's second birth in the NCAA Outdoor Championships after qualifying in the 10,000 meter run last weekend.
The Pointers return to action April 10 at the Platteville Open hosted by UW-Platteville.
