MADISON - UW-Stevens Point junior first baseman
Jeremy Richter (Rosholt/Rosholt), a native of Rosholt, has been named this week's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Position Player of the Week for the sport of baseball.
Richter made 18 plate appearances and reached base safely 13 times in doubleheaders against UW-Oshkosh and UW-Superior. He compiled 10 hits, including three doubles and three home runs to go along with eight RBI and six runs scored for a slugging percentage of 1.222 and on-base percentage of .619. Richter recorded at least three hits in three contests. He was 4-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI in a 12-10, 10-inning win over the Titans on April 22. In the opening game against the Yellowjackets on April 25, Richter was 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs scored, one double and one home run.
Richter and the Pointers return to action on Wednesday when they host league-leading UW-Oshkosh at University Field beginning at 1 p.m. The Pointers currently sit a half game back of the Titans heading into the final week of the regular season.
