Women’s Hoops Ranked Seventh in Final Poll

MINNEAPOLIS - The UW-Stevens Point women's basketball team is ranked No. 7 by D3hoops.com in the final poll of the season.

The Pointers, who finished the season 26-4, lost in the Sweet 16 to then top-ranked and undefeated Illinois Wesleyan77-64.

Undefeated national champion George Fox received all 25 first-place votes while runner-up Washington University (Mo.) finished second. UW-Eau Claire and UW-Whitewater also appear in the season's final poll, ranking 15th and 17th respectively.

During the course of the season, the Pointers set a new school record for consecutive victories with 14 and Head Coach Shirley Egner won her 350th game at the helm of the program on their way to capturing their fourth conference title.

The Pointers then captured their third WIAC Tournament Championship and earned the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Pointers defeated Maryville (Mo.) and Concordia (Wis.) in the tournament's opening rounds at home before falling to the Titans of Ill. Wesleyan.
