Men’s Hoops Ranked Fourth in Final D3hoops.com Poll

MINNEAPOLIS - The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team finishes the 2008-09 season ranked No. 4 by D3hoops.com.

The Pointers finished the season with a 24-5 record and fell to the third-ranked team in this season's final poll, St. Thomas, in the second round of the 2009 NCAA Division III tournament by three, 53-50. The Pointers secured the program's 25th Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) title and the program's fifth postseason tournament title this season under fourth year head coach Bob Semling.

St. Thomas lost in the eventual national champion and top-ranked Washington University in the Elite Eight round of the NCAA Tournament. Wheaton (Ill.) who fell to the Bears in the Sweet 16 ranks second in the final poll while national runner-up Richard Stockton comes in fifth.

The D3hoops.com Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly.
