Petersen Named D3hoops.com All-Region

MINNEAPOLIS – UW-Stevens Point sophomore Britta Petersen, a native of Luck, Wis., has been named Second Team All-Central Region by D3hoops.com. Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools and all SID's were given the opportunity to vote. 

Petersen led the Pointers to a 26-4 season, the fourth-most victories in school history, scoring 14.2 points per game. She shot an impressive 55.0 percent from the floor, ranking her 20th in Division III on her way to scoring a team-high 412 points this season. Petersen finished second on the team in rebounds, pulling down 164, 5.7 per game and had a team-high 40 blocks on the season. 

Three other Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) players made the All-Region team, Julia Hirssig of UW-Stout, Heidi Arciszewski of UW-Eau Claire, Mackenzie Hunter of UW-La Crosse and Tiffany Morton of UW-Whitewater. 

UWSP advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament before falling to then top-ranked and undefeated Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, 77-64.
