Pointers Down Loras and Fontbonne; Improve to 8-4

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The UW-Stevens Point softball team tallied two more victories on Thursday, defeating Loras 7-1 and added a 5-2 victory over Fontbonne in the second game of the day, improving their record to 8-4 overall, 6-2 at the Rebel Games in Florida

In game one, senior Allie Dorn (Greenville, Fox Valley Lutheran) got the start and the win, pitching a complete game four-hitter, striking out seven. At the plate, Jessica Berger (Bonduel) tallied two hits, both doubles, while Elyse Nelson (Batavia, IL, Batavia) clobbered a three-run home run and Brittany Zelenka (Marathon) added a home run of her own as the Pointers cruised to the lopsided win. It was the second win for UWSP against Loras at the Rebel Games this spring, as the two faced each other on Sunday.

In game two, Kayla Kastenmeier (Ashwaubenon) tallied the win, going the distance and allowing just three hits, striking out eight. At the plate, Berger stayed hot, going 2-4 while Mallory Martens (Green Bay, Preble) was 2-3. Dorn did her damage at the plate this time, plating two runs on her only hit of game two, a double.

The Pointers close out their spring trip on Friday, March 20, as they face Nazareth and Mass. College of Liberal Arts in games starting at 1 p.m. in Kissimmee.
