STEVENS POINT - The Auggies of Augsburg jumped out to an early 12-0 lead and held UW-Stevens Point to just three victories on the evening as the tenth-ranked Pointers were defeated by the nation's top-ranked team in Division III 35-10.

A pin at 125 and a forfeit victory at 133 gave Augsburg the early 12-0 advantage. Chase DeCleene (Ashwaubenon/Ashwaubenon) (Ashwaubenon) defeated fourth-ranked Tony Valek (Belle Plaine, Minn.) from Augsburg to put the Pointers on the board with a 9-6 victory.

From there, Augsburg's top-ranked Willy Holst (Prescott) and fourth-ranked Jason Adams (Coon Rapids, Minn.) tallied another two victories for the Auggies at 149 and 157 pushing the Augsburg lead to 19-3.

Seventh-ranked Jake Wozniak (Stanley/Stanley-Boyd) (Stanley) added another victory for the Pointers at 165, registering a 9-2 victory over Orlando Ponce (Hialeah, Fla.) and adding another three team points to the UWSP score.

After another Augsburg victory at 174, sixth-ranked Ben Engelland (Neenah/Neenah) (Neenah) tallied his 25th win of the season by a 14-4 margin, pushing the score to 23-10.

To close out the match, the Auggies registered two straight pins at 197 and 285 to capture the 35-10 victory.

UW-Stevens Point returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 14 when they play host to UW-Eau Claire in their final home dual of the season. Scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., Saturday is also Parents and Senior Day at Berg Gymnasium.
