STEVENS POINT – The 17th-ranked Pointer wrestling team finished the day with a 2-1 record at the La Crosse 4x2 Duals on Saturday afternoon, posting victories against ninth-ranked North Central (IL) and 28th-ranked Loras College (IA) while falling to NCAA Division II St. Cloud State, ranked tenth.

In the day's opening match-up against Div. II St. Cloud, the Pointers' Joe Mileski (Gladstone, MI), Kris Magruder (Racine) and Ben Engelland (Neenah) each tallied victories against the Huskies but it was not enough as St. Cloud handed the Pointers their first dual loss of the season 28-9.

From there the Pointers day turned for the better, as Mileski continued his dominance at 125 pounds, recording a 3-0 victory over North Central's Joe Norton and a pin of Loras' Pat Pfantz in 2:17.

Magruder tallied another victory at 149 points, defeating Trent Reinoehl of North Central to cap a perfect 3-0 day. Ben Engelland (Neenah/Neenah), ranked fourth in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) poll at 184 pounds, defeated North Central's Gabe Youel, ranked #2 at 184 pounds, 2-1 in overtime.  Engelland later received a forfeit victory against Loras to go 3-0 on the day.

Brandon Jochem (Hustisford), Andrew Dilworth (Greendale) and Dennis Reckelberg (New Franken) also tallied two victories each on the day in the final two matches, helping the Pointers to the victories.

The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team returns to the mat on Dec. 10 when they travel to UW-Platteville for a 7 p.m. match-up with the Pioneers.
