OSHKOSH - Three UW-Stevens Point wrestlers recorded major decisions and three others added victories as the Pointers opened Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) action on Wednesday evening with a 24-10 victory over the Titans of UW-Oshkosh at the Kolf Sports Center.

Down 7-3 in the match's early bouts, the Pointers used an 11-0 victory by Dennis Reckelberg (New Franken), a 15-1 victory by Ben Engelland (Neenah) and a 13-0 victory by Brandon Jochem (Hustisford) to open up a gap the Titans could not recover from, cruising to their second dual victory of 2009.

Elsewhere for the Pointers, Lucas McGann (Merrimac) earned a 5-2 decision at 133, Kris Magruder (Racine) earned a 12-5 victory at 149 and Chris Karl (Arpin) won his bout at 174 with a close 3-1 decision over the nation's fifth-ranked Sam Engelland of Oshkosh.

The Pointers, ranked 17th in the latest BRUTE-ADIDAS National Wrestling Coaches Association Poll, return to action on Saturday, Dec. 5 when they travel to UW-La Crosse for the 4x2 Duals. Action is set to begin at 9 a.m.
