2009 AFCA Team
WACO, Texas - UW-Stevens Point junior wide receiver/punter
Jared Jenkins, a native of Milwaukee, has been named to the 2009 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III Coaches' All-America Team.
Jenkins finished the season with 1,584 punting yards and boasts a 42.84 yard average, third best in all of Division III. In fact, his punting average ranks 33rd amongst kickers in all divisions. Jenkins average also set a new UW-Stevens Point record for best punting average in a season, unseating Hall of Famer Rick Peot's 41.8 yards per kick in 1975.
As a wide receiver, Jenkins led the WIAC in every statistical category. He finished with 80 receptions for 1,210 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2009. He also enters the top-5 of UW-Stevens Point's all-time touchdown receptions list.
The Pointers finished the season 7-3, 6-1 in the always difficult Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
