Pointers Skate Past Cobbers

Box Score

STEVENS POINT – Samantha Scheving (Warroad, MN) tallied a power-play 13 minutes into the second period to break a 1-1 tie, giving the Pointers the lead and the eventual win as the UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team skated to a 2-1 victory over the Concordia-Moorhead Cobbers on Sunday evening.

After a scoreless first period, Dana Carothers (Burnsville, MN) gave the Pointers a 1-0 led at the 6:02 mark of the second period off a Tracy Butler (Marshfield) pass.

Just 23 seconds later, the Cobbers tied the score when Katelyn Dold found the back of the net, knotting the score at 1-1.

Scheving broke the tie at the 13:11 mark of the second period off passes from Erika Greenen (Naperville, IL) and Erin Marvin (Shoreview, MN), giving the Pointers the edge once again.

The rest of the way, the Pointer defense and goalkeeper Staci Pomering (Roscoe, IL) kept Concordia-Moorhead scoreless, holding on for the 2-1 victory.

Pomering tallied 27 saves on the evening while Maddie Haroldson recorded 24 for Concordia.

The Pointers return to action Nov. 13-14 when they host St. Olaf College for a weekend series at Ice Hawks Arena. Friday's game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
