Football
Defense – Peter Peterson, Junior (Pittsville, Wis.)
Starting outside linebacker Pete Peterson, Junior (Pittsville, Wis.), had six tackles in a tough game against conference rival UW-Whitewater. Peterson had two solo tackles and assisted in four others including a tackle for a loss. The Peterson led a defense that held the Warhawks to just 4-13 in third down conversions. On the season Peterson has 56 tackles and with eight tackles for loss.
Special Teams – Colton Zimmerman, Sophomore (Iola, Wis.)
Kick returner Colton Zimmerman, sophomore (Iola, Wis.) returned six kicks for a total of 109 yards. Zimmerman’s 109 yards was his best of the season and his Pointer career. A long return of 31 yards was also his second longest of his Pointer career. Due to Zimmerman’s returns the Pointer offense had an average starting spot of the 28 yard line.
Men’s Hockey
Nic Polaski, Junior (Delafield, Wis.)
Junior forward Nic Polaski (Delafield, Wis.), tallied five shots, two goals and an assist in three games to start the 2009-10 season. In the season opener Polaski tallied two shots, and two goals within a three minute span in the second period of a Pointer win. Over the weekend against conference foe St. Scholastica, Polaski notched seven shots and an assist in two games. For the season Polaski is second on the team in both points (3) and goals (2).
Women’s Hockey
Michelle Lunneborg, Freshman (Richfield, Minn.)
Playing her is first collegiate games Michelle Lunneborg, freshman (Richfield, Minn.), tallied two points in two tough contests against St. Thomas University. On Friday Lunneborg assisted on the lone UWSP goal in a tough loss. Saturday Lunneborg tallied her first Pointer goal, which also gave the Pointers their first lead of the season in their first win. Lunneborg is tied for the team lead in both in both goals and points.
