STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point football team fell just short of their second consecutive playoff berth on Sunday afternoon, failing to make the field of 32 for the 2009 NCAA Division III Football Playoffs.

UW-Whitewater was the only Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) team in the 2009 playoff field, receiving the conference's automatic bid to the playoff by virtue of winning the conference title. The Warhawks received the top seed in the West bracket and host Lakeland College on Saturday.

UW-Stevens Point's season comes to an end at 7-3 overall, 6-1 in conference play.
