STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point wrestling team started off the 2009-10 season with a bang, beating Lakeland College by a score of 40-3 in Berg Gymnasium. After losing the first match, the Pointers went on a roll by winning the next nine.

Ben Engelland (Neenah), ranked No. 4 in NCAA Div. III National Wrestling Coaches Association BRUTE-ADDIDAS Preseason Poll at 184 pounds, won convincingly by pinning Lakeland's Chris Weber in 1:47.
Kris Magruder (Racine) earned a technical fall victory for the Pointers, defeating Lakeland freshman Nate Campbell 16-0. Pointer
Nick Estep (Racine) won the last match of the night by technical fall as well, defeating Lakeland's Brad La Claire 17-0.
UW-Stevens Point freshmen
Jordan Kust (Clintonville) and
Mark Puckhaber (West DePere) both won their Pointer debuts. Kust defeated David May by a score of 6-4, while Puckhaber dominated Cody Gust 16-3.
The Pointers return to action Saturday, Nov. 14, when they host the Adventure 212 Open in the Multi Activity Center in the Health Enhancement Center at UW-Stevens Point. Action begins at 9:00 a.m.
