MADISON - UW-Stevens Point's Joel Heroux, a junior from Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol, has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) men's cross country Athlete of the Week.

Heroux led a group of Pointers who all finished in the top 30 at the Notre Dame Invitational Gold Division on Oct. 2. He had his best finish of the season at eighth place with a time of 25.11. In a thrilling finish, Heroux crossed the line ahead of the ninth place finisher who was credited with the same time.

The Pointer men's cross country team returns to action Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Ripon Invitational.
