STEVENS POINT-The UW-Stevens Point men’s hockey dropped to 0-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) and 1-2 dropping the second game of a two game series to the Saints of St. Scholastica on Saturday at K.B. Willett Arena.

After a scoreless first period the Saints got on the board first off a power play goal by Riley Riddel at 5:32 into the second to give the Saints a 1-0 advantage.

The Pointers continued to outshoot the Saints, tallying eight more shots on goal for the game, but Scholastica goalkeeper Brennan Poderzay kept the game 1-0 though two periods.

In the third St. Scholastica increased its lead to 2-0 behind a goal from Garet Chumley at the 15:09 mark, assisted by Colin Trachel and Paul Marcoux.

The Pointers got on the board with 2:42 remaining when Taylor Kuypers (Madison) put the puck past Poderzay off a Nic Polaski (Delafield) and Johnny Meo (Vernon Hills, IL) assist cutting the deficit to one.

With time running out a flurry of Pointer shots were turned away by Poderzay as the Saints held on for the 2-1 victory.
Thomas Speer (Janesville) tallied 25 saves while Poderzay recorded 34 including 12 in the final period.

The Pointers return to action November 6-7 when they host Hamline and Bethel in non-conference action at K.B. Willett Arena. Game time for both nights is 7:30 p.m.
