Lunder Named WIAC Defensive Player of the Week

MADISON – UW-Stevens Point defensive end Matt Lunder, a native of Waunakee, has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Football Defensive Player of the Week.

Lunder helped the Pointers to a 26-14 win at UW-La Crosse on Oct. 24, finishing with six tackles, including five tackles for losses of 22 yards and three quarterback sacks. He started out the first drive of the game with back-to-back tackles for losses to help force an Eagle punt. Lunder's defensive pressure helped the Pointer defense force three interceptions.

The Pointer football team returns to action on Halloween, Oct. 31, for a showdown with the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater. Both teams come into the game 4-0 in WIAC play. Kickoff at Community Stadium at Goerke Park is set for 1:00 p.m.
