Matznick Named WIAC Special Teams Player of the Week

MADISON – UW-Stevens Point punter Brandon Matznick, a native of Kiel, has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Football Special Teams Player of the Week.

Seeing his first action as a Pointer, Matznick kept UW-La Crosse pinned deep in their own territory in a 26-14 UW-Stevens Point victory on Oct. 24. He had six punts averaging 47 yards with a long of 66 yards and landed three punts inside the UW-La Crosse 20-yard line, forcing the Eagles to average starting position of their own 33-yard line.

The Pointer football team returns to action on Halloween, Oct. 31, for a showdown with the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater. Both teams come into the game 4-0 in WIAC play. Kickoff at Community Stadium at Goerke Park is set for 1:00 p.m.
