MINNEAPOLIS - Coming off a season in which the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point men's basketball team finished 24-5, D3hoops.com has tabbed the Pointers the 10th best team in its preseason men's poll.

The Pointers won both the regular season and conference tournament Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) titles and made it to the second round of the NCAA Div. III tournament in 2008-09. The Pointers tournament loss came against the University of St. Thomas, who ended last season in the round of eight and are ranked fourth in the D3sports.com preseason poll.

The Pointers have won the WIAC regular season title seven times dating back to the 1999-2000 season and have won the conference tournament title four of the last six years. The Pointers also hold a 125-35 WIAC regular season record dating back to the 1999-2000 season.

The Pointers are joined by three other WIAC teams, as UW-Whitewater, UW-Platteville and UW-Oshkosh all make an appearance in the preseason top-25 poll. Whitewater enters the season 13th, Platteville 17th and Oshkosh ranks 24th.

UW-Stevens Point opens the 2009-10 season on Nov. 15 in Collegeville, Minn. against St. John's University.
