MADISON – UW-Stevens Point wide receiver
Jared Jenkins, a native of Milwaukee, has been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) football Offensive Player of the Week. Jenkins' was previously named the WIAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Sept. 20.
Jenkins led the Pointers in receiving with 13 catches for 189 yards and a touchdown in a 24-17 win at UW-Oshkosh on Oct. 17. In the game-winning touchdown drive in the fourth quarter, Jenkins had six catches for 39 yards, culminating with a four-yard touchdown reception. That touchdown reception was Jenkins' 10th of the season and 22nd of his career, placing him fifth on UW-Stevens Point's all-time career touchdown receptions list.
The Pointer football team returns to action Saturday, Oct. 24 when they travel to UW-La Crosse for a 1:00 p.m. conference matchup.
