DURHAM, N.C. - Jordan Zimmermann, a second round MLB draft choice by the Washington National and former UW-Stevens Point pitcher has another line to add to his already impressive career resume; No. 1 prospect.
Zimmermann has been named the No. 1 prospect in the Washington National organization, according to Baseball America. Earlier this off-season, Jordan was also named the Nationals Minor League Pitcher of the Year, an award given out by the organization.
Zimmermann, who was named the most outstanding player of the NCAA Division III baseball championships in 2007, finished his final season as a Pointer with a 10-0 record in 13 appearances, posting a team best 2.08 ERA.
This past season at AA Harrisburg, Zimmerman threw 106.2 innings, posting a 7-2 record with a 3.21 ERA in 20 starts, striking out a team-high 103 batters.
