STEVENS POINT – The UW-Stevens Point women's tennis team picked up two victories on Saturday, improving their record to 5-1 overall as they defeated Concordia (Wis.) 8-1 and UW-River Falls 6-3at SentryWorld Sports Complex.
The Pointers opened the 2008 conference portion of their schedule first, taking on River Falls. The Pointers took the early 2-1 lead, thanks to wins from
Rachel Benn (Stevens Point/SPASH) (Stevens Point/SPASH) &
Chelsea Allbaugh (Bettendorf, IA/Pleasant Valley) (Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley) at No. 1 and

In singles action, the Pointers captured four of six games to go on for the 6-3 victory.
In the day's second match-up against Concordia (Wis.), the Pointers showed little effect of playing a match just five hours earlier, turning on the jets and cruising to an 8-1 victory over the Falcons. Riordan, Sorensen and
Kaitlyn King (Plover/Stevens Point Pacelli) (Plover/Pacelli) were all double winners against the Falcons.
Concordia's lone win was at No. 1 doubles, as Erin Henrich and Emily Buchinger defeated Benn and Allbaugh.
