STEVENS POINT – The No. 11 ranked UW-Stevens Point wrestling team won nine out of ten matches on their way to defeating UW-Oshkosh 35-3 tonight in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet at Berg Gym.

With the victory in their conference opener, the Pointers move to 6-0 overall and 1-0 in the WIAC, while the Titans fall to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the WIAC.

Kris Magruder (Racine/Case) (Racine) began the meet for the Pointers with a pin at 4:15 for the victory in the 149-pound bout, and Dan Wierzba (Stevens Point/Pacelli) (Stevens Point) followed that by winning a 4-2 decision in the second match.
The Pointers continued to roll as Jake Wozniak (Stanley/Stanley-Boyd) (Stanley) defeated James Dederich 12-1 in the 165-pound match, and Ben Engelland (Neenah/Neenah) (Neenah) moved to 8-0 on the season with a pin at 1:45.

Jeremy Fulk (Anchorage, AK/West Valley) (Fairbanks, AK) followed that up with an 8-4 victory of his own in the 197-pound match, and Chad Gregory (Lawton, OK/Lawton) (Lawton, OK) won a close decision in the 285-pound match 4-3.

The Titans picked up their first victory of the match when Chad Leviner used a last minute reverse to take the 5-4 decision over Joe Mileski (Gladstone, MI/Gladstone) (Gladstone, MI) in the 125-pound match. But the Pointers finished strong as Jered Kern (Mosinee/Mosinee) (Mosinee) won the 133-pound match 8-0 and Chase Decleene (Ashwabenon) won the 141-pound match 9-2.

The Pointers will travel to Kenosha to participate in the Wisconsin Open on Friday.
