WHITEWATER – Defending conference champion UW-Whitewater proved to be too much for the Pointers on Tuesday afternoon, as the Warhawks downed visiting UWSP 9-0 in women's tennis action.
Down 3-0 after doubles, the Pointers showed sparks of life as reigning WIAC Athlete of the Week
Rachel Benn (Stevens Point/SPASH) (Stevens Point) battled back in her No. 1 singles match, eventually falling in a third-set tiebreaker 6-2, 4-6, 14-12.
Elsewhere, it was straight-set victories for the Warhawks, who improved to 3-0 in WIAC play with the victory.
The Pointers (6-5, 1-4 WIAC) host UW-Oshkosh in the team's final regular-season match on Friday, Oct. 17 at SentryWorld Sports Complex in Stevens Point. Start time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
