FOND DU LAC – The 12th-ranked UW-Stevens Point wrestling team was defeated by Lakeland College tonight by a score of 31-11 at Goodrich High School.
Picking up wins for the Pointers were Jered Kern (Jr.-Mosinee) at 133 pounds, Jake Wozniak (Jr.-Stanley/Stanley-Boyd) at 165 pounds, and Dennis Reckelberg (So.-Luxemburg/Luxemburg-Casco) at 174 pounds.
Kern defeated Kory Theil by decision 7-6. Wozniak won by a major decision over Jake Frias 9-1 and Reckelberg also won by major decision over Levi Hackler 8-1.
It was the first dial meet of the season for the Pointers, who began the season Saturday at the Pointer Open. Lakeland improves to 3-2 this young season.
The Pointers will compete in the Olivet Duals on Saturday. The action is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
