JANESVILLE, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point women's hockey team (4-1-0) earned a 3-0 win in its first visit to Beloit (1-3-0) on Tuesday.
Riley Novak (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) broke a scoreless tie at 9:08 of the second period to give UWSP a 1-0 lead.
Amanda Pouchnik (Viola, Idaho/Moscow) and
Molly Pohlkamp (Baxter, Minn./Brainerd) got assists on the eventual game-winner.
Novak doubled the UWSP advantage at the 4:46 mark of the third period.
Natalie Ahern (Byron, Minn./Byron) recorded her first assist of the game on the play.
Pohlkamp gave the Pointers a 3-0 lead at 18:11 of the third period. Ahern and
Alyssa Yokom (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown) recorded assists.
Freshman goaltender
Claire Swanson (Buffalo, Minn./Rogers) made 15 saves in the shutout, her UWSP debut. Beloit goaltender Maddy Bliss had 49 saves.
The Pointers host UW-River Falls on Friday (Nov. 14) in the conference opener. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m. at K.B. Willett Arena.
