STEVENS POINT, Wis. – The UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (2-3-0) saw a two-goal lead evaporate in a 4-2 loss to No. 4 St. Norbert (4-1-0) in UWSP's home opener on Tuesday.
Chris Engelbert (Whitby, Ont.) scored his fourth goal of the season at 4:32 of the first period to put the Pointers in front.
Camden Markham (Houghton, Mich.) and
Nico Chmelevski (Northville, Mich.) had assists on the play.
In the closing seconds of the first period,
Quinton Hill (Coquitlam, B.C.) tallied on the power play, his first of the season.
Hunter O'Brien (Cambridge, Ont.) and
Gino Colangelo (Newmarket, Ont.) assisted to make it 2-0 after one period.
The Green Knights got on the board at 1:16 of the second period. SNC tied the game at the 12:44 mark of the second and the game went to the third period knotted at 2-2.
The tie was broken by the Green Knights at 1:05 of the third period. SNC added an empty-net goal with 1:11 to go to finish the scoring.
UWSP goaltender
Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) had 24 saves. SNC goaltender Hunter Garvey made 18 saves.
The Pointers are back in action on Nov. 21 for the conference opener against UW-River Falls. Puck drop at K.B. Willett Arena is slated for 7:00 p.m.
