DUBUQUE, Iowa – The No. 11 UW-Stevens Point men's hockey team (0-1-0) fell in overtime, 3-2, at Dubuque (1-0-0) in the season opener at the Key City Classic on Friday night.
The host Spartans took a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 5:37 of the first period.
Chris Engelbert (Whitby, Ont.) tied the game at 1-1 at 4:02 of the season period with his first goal of the night.
Michael Eftimovski (Toronto, Ont.) had an assist on the goal.
UD took the lead in the third period with another power-play goal at 1:59. The Spartans held the 2-1 lead until the final minute of regulation.
Engelbert tallied his second goal of the night with 39.8 seconds remaining to tie the game at 2-2 and send it to overtime.
The Spartans got the game-winning goal just 40 seconds into the extra session to earn the win.

Alex Proctor (Allen, Texas) made 25 saves. UD goaltender Mitchell Dazza also had 25 saves in the game.
The Pointers will face Augsburg in the consolation game at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 1).
