Elizabeth Caine (Plover, SPASH),
Kathleen Folbrecht (Jefferson),
Kristin Kuber (Tomahawk) and
Laura Simonis (Rosholt) teamed to bring the women's 4x400-meter relay at the 2009 WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, as the Pointers finished fourth in the nine team field, tallying 65 team points.
UW-La Crosse took home their third straight WIAC indoor title while UW-Eau Claire finished second and UW-Oshkosh finished third. UW-River Falls finished fifth, UW-Platteville sixth, UW-Whitewater seventh, UW-Stout eighth and UW-Superior ninth.
Top finishers on the day for the Pointers included Sara Kline (Casco, Luxemberg-Casco) in the women's 55-meter hurdles, as she finished second with a time of 8.50.
Cain, who finished first in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash was narrowly edged in the finals, finishing second with a time of 7.27 in both the preliminaries and finals.
Folbrecht and Simonis finished 2nd and fourth respectively in the 400-meter dash, posting times of 58.25 and 59.20 in the event finals and Claire Roberts (Oakfield, Horace Mann) finished third in the one mile run with a time of 5:15.29.
Caine was also named to the Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Pointers will next be in action on Saturday, March 7 when they host the Last Chance Meet in the Multi-Activity Center in Stevens Point before heading to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on March 13-14.
