Rortvedt played for the Pointers men's basketball team from 2005 to 2009. A four-time All-WIAC selection, he landed on the first team three times. A sharp-shooter from long-range, Rortvedt is the WIAC all-time leader in made (302) and attempted (769) three-point field goals. In 2006-07, he set the school record with 95 made threes and led the WIAC in scoring at 16.9 points per game. He led the Pointers to the Sweet 16 that season, one of three trips to the NCAA Tournament for the Pointers during Rortvedt's career. In 2009, he was an NABC all-region second teamer. He concluded his UWSP career with 1,453 career points, 10th most in program history. Rortvedt led UWSP to WIAC regular season and WIAC Tournament champions in 2007 and 2009.
