"Gerbs" played for coaches Dean Shuda and Kelli Harms from 1997 to 2000. A four-year starter, including on the 1998 National Championship Team, where at the World Series in Salem, Va., she caught every inning of the tourney for the Pointers. Gerber was a three-time all-conference and all-region selection. She finished her career with 34 doubles, which at the time of her graduation was second all-time in Pointers records. Hitting in the middle of the potent Pointers' offense, she drove in many clutch runs in the Pointers run to the Championship in '98. This included a 3-hit and 4-RBI performance in a victorious semifinal game against Chapman University. In the 1998 season, she played in 52 games and had a batting average of .301 with 43 hits and 28 RBIs. It was defensively, however, where Gerber shined. She was a wall behind home plate with a shotgun arm, who besides throwing out attempting base stealers, picked off numerous runners from first base. Dean Shuda, her head coach for three years, a former Division I head coach and also a coach of successful American Legion Baseball teams, has called her the "BEST" catcher he ever coached! Working closely with pitching coach Rod Runyan, the pitching and catching tandems were top quality during their tenures at UWSP. The Pointers team record during her career was 129-55.
