As an NCAA All American runner for the Pointers, Leah was a standout student-athlete in both Cross Country and Track & Field for the Pointers. As a track and field athlete Leah left her mark on the program as a versatile competitor starting her career as a jumper who transitioned into a middle distance and distance runner. In 2002 Leah placed 2nd at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 1500m with a time of 4:40.31. Leah also was a part of the 1st place 4x800 meter relay team at the WIAC Championships in 2003. For her track and field career Leah placed in the top-10 at the NCAA's and WIAC's a total of 16 times in both individual and relay events. Leah was a part of the 2003 Team All American award for the Pointers Cross Country team which placed third at the national meet in 2003. As a cross country athlete Leah placed in the top ten in three of the four WIAC Championships she competed in helping her team win two WIAC crowns during her tenure. Leah also received UW-Stevens Point's 2003 Female Athlete of the Year award for an Individual Sport.
